The world is fast, it’s busy, and sometimes it's exhausting. We know because we’ve been there, too. But we’ve found the power of home and what it means to our mental and emotional health on a daily basis, and we want that for you, too.
So like the windmill, we stand as a trusted source and vow to our clients that we will take your busy lives and create a place of respite for your soul.
Welcome to Housemill Design.
As the daughter of an architect and interior designer father, Lauren was immersed in the home design industry from a young age, but didn’t realize her own passion for interior design until living overseas in rural Africa with her husband and young daughter from 2009-2012. "The powerful concept of home didn’t hit me until I had to build a new home across the ocean with very few resources. Every choice we made had to be resourceful and functional but also beautiful to provide a respite and a haven from the harsh realities of daily life.” After returning home to Austin, Lauren freelanced as a field editor and stylist for national shelter magazines like Better Homes and Gardens and HGTV Magazine. She founded HouseMill Design in 2016 as her passion for home intersected with the practical experience gained in the field and an abundance of requests from clients to help transform their spaces.
Whitney’s passion for interior design began as a child as she cut out photos of furniture to decorate paper collage dollhouse creations and dreamed up ways to rearrange her childhood bedroom. She followed her passion and went on to study interior design at Texas Christian University. Committed to her craft, she has been designing high-end residential projects for over 20 years. As our resident space planning guru, she loves to solve creative problems and craft custom details throughout the course of a project. Inspired by functional living, Whitney is most fulfilled when she sees a design come to life and evidence of the way it elevates a client’s daily life.
Sidney’s passion for design was sparked by her travels across the U.S. and Europe and shaped by her upbringing in a military family. Immersed in diverse cultures from an early age, she developed a thoughtful, people-centered approach to design.
While studying at Kent State University, Sidney lived and learned abroad, collaborating with global designers and emphasizing sustainability, cultural exchange, and purposeful spaces.
Today, she creates interiors that reflect the unique stories of her clients—spaces that are personal, intentional, and lived-in. Her process is rooted in the belief that design should inspire comfort, connection, and joy.
In her free time, Sidney enjoys hunting for vintage finds and exploring new places with her fiancé, Sean, and their dogs, Koa and Kali—always drawing inspiration from the beauty of everyday life.

Jonathan’s appreciation for interior design began while living in Africa, where he watched his wife Lauren pour her energy and creativity into making their home a beautiful, welcoming space. As the son of a designer himself, the passion felt familiar. While Jonathan doesn’t share Lauren’s design instincts, he has come to trust her vision completely—consistently amazed by her ability to bring ideas to life in a way that elevates everyday living.
His own passions lie in the outdoors, where he enjoys cooking, bow hunting, gardening or gathering with friends. After a decade in the technology sector, Jonathan decided in 2021 to join Lauren’s design firm in a managerial and operational role. Since then, he has come to deeply value the transformative power of a well-designed home and the way it can enrich the lives of those who live in it.
Sarah blends artistic vision with engineer-like precision to design spaces that reflect who you are and how you live. Raised in a family of engineers—including a father who hoped she'd take over the family business—she developed an early appreciation for structure and problem-solving. But her passion for creativity ultimately shaped her path. Interior design offered the perfect balance: a discipline where precision and imagination coexist. With a degree in Interior Architecture from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Sarah brings a unique ability to harmonize beauty and function. From large-scale builds to focused furnishings, she adapts to different scopes and budgets with ease. Sarah creates what she calls “lived-in luxury”—spaces that are as refined as they are inviting. With a thoughtful eye for sustainable materials and practices, she ensures your home is not only beautiful, but built with intention.
In 2020, Alyssa left her position as an account manager at a local tech company to pursue a career in Interior Design. While exploring schooling options, she had the chance to work with a local designer and learn the craft hands-on. Over the next five years, she assisted on 20+ projects, gaining experience in material selection, order management, design boards, construction management, vendor communication, styling, and installation. Alyssa has a great appreciation for excellent craftsmanship and creativity in all forms. She enjoys using a variety of materials to create depth and texture in her projects, prioritizing unique items that tell the story of the home. Her belief is that every home should be a haven that reflects the personality of those that inhabit the space.

Through her coursework, Natalie has developed strong foundational skills in drafting, space planning, and design theory. LauraLynn’s roots in design run deep—she’s the daughter of a designer and the granddaughter of a custom home builder. Her earliest memories are filled with the scent of sawdust and the sounds of construction sites, experiences that naturally led her toward a career in design. After eight successful years working independently in interior design throughout the Houston area, she joined HouseMill Design as Customer Experience Manager, combining her professional experience with her passion for family and service.
With a degree in communications and a background in sales, LauraLynn is dedicated to creating a seamless and exceptional experience for each client. She believes that a home should be a retreat from the outside world—a vibrant reflection of the people who live in it.
LauraLynn and her husband, Kris, live a full and active life with their twin boys. Whether playing board games, running as a family, or enjoying a game of tennis, they prioritize time together. At home, you’ll often find them cuddled up watching movies with their beloved dog, Archer.
