Best Designed + Family Friendly Hill Country Locations!

Something we love about living in the Texas Hill Country is discovering all the family friendly destinations that hold something for everyone. My husband loves a good drink with friends, I love breathtaking design and of course my girls love to free their imaginations in the great outdoors. Here are our top 5 recommendations for a perfectly designed, family friendly outing!

  1. Front Yard Brewing

Out west off highway 71 sits this beautifully designed, family friendly brewery! This spot is great for groups and kids as it has a massive yard with games and food trucks galore! And, while you sip your Texas beer your eyes will be in heaven with the thoughtful design. Clean, crisp lines, steel roofing and windows, modern paint, and a turf yard with a view of the hill country, you really couldn’t ask for anything more!

2. Wayback

This little cafe is just perfect. It’s soft color palette, quaint interior size and perfectly manicured landscaping will bring a smile to anyone’s face. Now pair the ambiance with sophisticated southern comfort food and it’s a massive win in our books!

3. Fitzhugh Brewing

Fitzhugh Brewing looks like a Chip and Joanna Gaines house plucked right now out Waco! It’s designed with white, wood, black windows, concrete flooring, and touches of hill country flair! Plus, they have a massive playscape for the kids!

4. Ellera

Take a night out as a family and enjoy the evening in Tuscany! Right in the middle of Bee Cave sits this beautiful stone, indoor/outdoor Italian gem. Massive oaks provide shade and swinging chairs and children toys entertain the young folk!

5. Treaty Oak Distilling + Abby Jane’s Bakeshop

Our design hearts explode when we set foot on the Treaty Oak property. You’re greeted by open fields with children and dogs playing, followed by a modern barn towering over the oaks greeting it’s guest with Texas made whiskey! The layout of the entire place is thoughtful from the cedar made outhouses, to the many tasting rooms and bars. On weekends you’ll find live music and parties galore! Plus, with the addition of Abby Jane’s Bakeshop you’ll find something for the whole family!

iHonorable Mentions because they are AMAZING for the kids with good food + drink but kinda lacking on the design…

DreamLand – think art, miniature golf, pickleball with a full bar!).

Roadrunner – amazing burgers and LOTS of outdoor games for the kids

Route 12 Filling Station – bar food with a play area for the kids, right off Ranch Rd 12 and Fitzhugh!
