Historic Home Before and After

What an amazing home to work on! This historical Texan remodel came to us through some amazing clients out in Bastrop, Tx.

Our sweet family wanted very much to preserve all the beautiful woodwork, original fireplace, and historic details that they loved about the house.  In curating our designs and selections we wanted to be considerate of these features, but bring in a modern touch.

Our main focus was on the first floor that included a dining room, living room, and game room. All these areas were connected by large cased opening, so they needed to be cohesive and create a good flow from space to space. The clients also had some existing antiques and furniture pieces that we wanted to incorporate and build from in our design while sourcing antique, vintage, and one of a kind pieces allowed us to seamlessly tie in new and and old pieces throughout.

The dining room had an incredible original fireplace that we used as inspiration for a bold new paint color and below the original tile ceiling we dressed with a new chandelier, dining table, and vintage bamboo chairs and custom seats.  A snazzy bar area between the large windows was the perfect place for a pair of upholstered chairs and console. Large scale art and accessories brought in color and scale to this grand entertaining room.

The living room needed a more functional layout, and the existing sectional was too large for the space so we knew it needed to be replaced.  We reoriented the room to allow for a TV, and still offer plenty of seating.  By setting the seating area away from the walls, we could dress the beautiful historic windows in soft linen panels, and no longer have the room feel like a pass through space.  A vintage turkish rug anchors the setting, and an open weave pendant draws the eye up to the incredibly tall ceilings.

A new chandelier above the pool table and media console for the couple’s jazzy record player, gave the front parlor a new reason to entertain!

We enjoyed working with our clients on making this old house their new home!
